The Keiser Athletic Department announced the Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Month for the month of December on Tuesday. This month's winners, senior guard
Shykim Gillion and senior forward
Justin Tucker, have been recognized for their play during the past month.
The winners of the Seahawks HHS Athletes of the Month will be featured on ESPN West Palm (106.3 FM).
Shykim Gillion, Sr., G, Delray Beach, Florida
- Helped lead the Seahawks to a 5-3 overall record during the month, including a 2-1 mark in conference play.
- Averaged 13.0 points per game on 42.5 percent shooting from the floor (37-of-87).
- Averaged 5.4 rebounds per game while averaging 3.8 assists per game.
- Led the team during the month of December in steals (21) while tying for the lead in assists (30).
- Scored double-figure six times in December, including a 19-point performance at Florida National (12/10).
- Dished out three-or-more assists six times, including a seven-assist performance over Webber International (12/3).
- On the year, Gillion is averaging 12.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per contest.
- Leads the conference in total steals (51) and is fourth in the league in shooting percentage (49.3 percent).
Justin Tucker, Sr., F, Orlando, Fla.
- Guided Keiser to a 4-3 record (1-2 SUN) during the month of December.
- Led the team in scoring and rebounding during the month.
- Averaged 15.2 points per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor.
- Reached double-figures in scoring four times, including a 21-point outing versus Brewton-Parker (12/29).
- He also scored 20 points in the Seahawk's 75-67 win over Warner (12/1).
- Notched two double-doubles during the month – 21 points and 18 rebounds vs. Brewton-Parker (12/29); 13 points 10 rebounds versus Thomas (12/12).
- Averaged a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game during the month.
- On the year, Tucker is averaging 14.5 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per contest.
- He is seventh in the conference in scoring and second in rebounding.
