The Keiser wrestling team went 1-1 at the Florida Duals on Saturday evening. The Seahawks defeated St. Thomas 27-20 in the first dual before falling to No. 3 Southeastern 40-6.
The highlights of the day came at 133 and 165 where
Bryce Cockrell and
Adam El Damir both picked up two wins on the day. Cockrell managed his first match well against Jerry Molina of St. Thomas, taking a 5-0 decision win with relative ease. He followed with a tight match against Isaac Lopez but did just enough to avoid a second stalling warning, winning the match by decision, 5-4. After being dropped from the rankings last week, El Damir made his case to be brought back in with his two wins. He is now 6-0 in duals this season, 5-0 in conference, and 12-4 overall.
Kaluv Peterson picked up his first dual win as a member of the Seahawks with an impressive win over DJ Perez. Down by three with less than 30 seconds left, Peterson escaped and got a takedown to tie the match and force overtime. He went on to win by sudden victory in the first overtime, 8-6.
