Men's Tennis Wraps Up Productive Day Two of ITA Regionals

Keiser men's tennis showed their strength in numbers on Friday at the ITA Regionals in Boca Raton, Fla. The men finished 9-1 on Friday, once again the only loss coming in a Keiser v Keiser matchup, and a perfect 3-0 in doubles play.

Soufiane El Mesbahi and Martin Carrizo held the honors for their performances in singles play. After cruising through doubles play with an 8-1 win, the pair split off and found marathon matches. Carrizo was first with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(5) tiebreak win over Raul Safont Martinez of St. Thomas in which he battled from behind early to take back control and win the match. El Mesbahi was in the final match of the night on court one as he drew Gustavo Cruz of Ave Maria. After dropping the first set and going down 4-5 in the second, he would rally to win the next three games and take the second set. In front of the remaining crowd of players, El Mesbahi won six straight games to claim the final match of the night 4-6, 7-5, 6-0. With the win, an all-Keiser semifinal was confirmed.

Coach's Corner
Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "Strong day from the guys. Having all three doubles teams still in it and the semifinals being all Keiser players, shows how well the boys competed today. Though I believe there is still room for improvement, the boys found ways to get wins today when things were not going their way and that is always good to see. That said, we have to be able to back it up again tomorrow in doubles. Time to try to get what little rest we can and get ready to do it all again tomorrow."
