No. 6Â women's soccer kicked off their season with a win over the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers on Sunday. Three different players found the back of the net as
Maja Lundman,
Lauren Riley, and
Ramona Kannady each scored goals for the Seahawks.

- The Seahawks showed pressure early as Maja Henriksson created a Mountaineers turnover into advanced to a cross to Maja Lundman who beat the keeper and scored the first goal of the Seahawks' season at the fifth minute.
- With just over a minute left in the half, Marthe Taugbøl set up for a free-kick just inside the EOU side of the field. She connected with Kyoka Koshijima who tapped it along to Lauren Riley who chipped the ball over the keeper for her first goal in her collegiate career.
- Keiser went into the half without allowing a shot on goal and leading 2-0.
- 13 minutes into the second half, Ramona Kannady intercepted a pass in the EOU third and bested the keeper in the one-on-one opportunity to put KU up 3-0.
- The Seahawks held the Mountaineers without a shot on goal until the 85th minute when a misplaced pass left Jasmine Seago of the Mountaineers open for a shot that was handled easily by Grace McClellan.
- KU held off the opposition for the remainder of the game, securing their first shutout win of 2022.
- Keiser improves to 14-3-1 in season openers all-time.
- 10 players made their debut for the Seahawks in game one of the season.Â
- Lundman, Kannady, and Riley all found the back of the net and sit atop the goal scoring leaderboard.
- Last seasons assist leader, Koshijima finds herself tied with Taugbøl and Henriksson for the team lead.
- McClellan needed just one save on the day to earn her 15th career solo shutout.
- The Seahawks outshot the Mountaineers 20-5 over the course of the game.
