No. 5Â Keiser Women's Lacrosse captured their second consecutive Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday, defeating No. 2 Cumberlands 14-13 in overtime.
Keiser 1, UC 4
- Cumberlands opened the scoring at the 7:25 mark with Bella Ricchiazzi registering the first goal of the game.
- After another Patriots goal, Talia Myers put Keiser on the board with 3:07 left in the first.
- UC ended the quarter with two more goals by Stephanie Meyer to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
Keiser 5, UC 8
- The Patriots got the second quarter started with 14:35 on the clock to go up 5-1.
- Madison Andrews stopped the run with 14:00 on the clock to cut the lead down to 5-2.
- Ricchiazzi added two more to her total to make it a 7-2 game with 9:20 to play in the half.
- Andrews answered with her second of the day at the 8:13 mark to bring the score to 7-3.
- Following a goal by the Cumberlands, Chloe Foley found the back of the net to make it an 8-4 game.
- With three seconds on the clock, Melanie Brown scored to cut the lead to 8-5 heading into the half.
Keiser 10, UC 11
- The Seahawks needed just 40 seconds for Rachel McLaughlin to put home her first of the game.
- Back-to-back goals by Andrews tied the game at 8-8 with 11:39 to play in the third.
- Keiser would get their first lead of the game with Myers picking up her second goal of the game with 11:17 on the clock.
- Cumberlands would answer at the 8:06 mark before taking the 10-9 lead with 7:25 left in the third.
- Andrews tied the game at 10-10 with 2:06 to play in the third.
- The Patriots took the late lead in the third quarter to go up 11-10 going into the fourth.
Keiser 13, UC 13
- UC opened the fourth to take a two-goal lead with 11:49 left in the contest.
- Brown and Andrews took advantage of the Patriots' penalty, scoring back-to-back man-up goals to tie the game at 12-12 with 7:33 on the clock.
- With 4:22 showing, Ashtyn Stoor found herself alone in front of the net and converted the chance to put KU up 13-12.
- Cumberlands would tie the game again with 1:34 left to play courtesy of Stephanie Meyer.
- Keiser would get the last possession of the game but couldn't convert as the score would remain tied at 13-13 going into overtime.
Keiser 14, UC 13
- Lomaglio secured the all-important draw control for the Seahawks to give them the first chance in extra time.
- Andrews would only need that one chance, scoring her 71st goal of the season to give KU a 14-13 win.
- 2: Keiser claimed their second consecutive MSC Championship.
- 2: Lomaglio notched two assists on the day to lead the team.
- 2: Leah Siter and Rebecca Gibson each recorded two caused turnovers on the afternoon.
- 4: Hannah Reeder led the team with four groundballs in the game.
- 6: Stacey Marcelin earned her sixth win in the crease for Keiser.
- 7/7/11: Andrews led the Seahawks with seven points on seven goals. The Sophomore also added 11 draw controls.
- 27: The Seahawks put 27 shots on goal to the Patriots' 18.
