The No. 2 Keiser women's tennis team took down the Division II, No. 17 ranked Tampa Spartans 5-2 on Tuesday evening.
- Perez Flores put the Seahawks on the board on court four with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
- Araya followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court six to put KU ahead 2-1.
- On court three, Vidanovic cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win for the third Keiser point.
- Companion clinched the match for the Seahawks with a 6-3, 7-6(2) win over D-II, No. 15 Maeva Roquebert.
- Nouws battled back on court six winning 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 to extend the KU lead.
- The Spartans would grab a point on court one, but the Seahawks would take the 5-2 win.
"Proud of the girls today for getting a gutsy win over the No. 17 ranked D-II team," said Head Coach,
Daniel Finn, "To come out down our top player, let the doubles point get away from us like it did, but be able to come back and fight for this one says a lot about their character and willingness to fight. Overall, we didn't play our best tennis today. The girls fought for it and took it from a tough Tampa team. This group has a very high ceiling and it's time they start believing in themselves, and today was a step in the right direction. Happy to get the win, but like always, we can only enjoy this for today as we turn our sights to this weekend."
The Seahawks will play their final conference game of the season on the road when they travel to No.7 SCAD on March 26.
