The No. 2 Keiser Seahawks fell to the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Friday afternoon at home, 7-6.
Keiser 3, Lawrence Tech 3
- James MacGilvray put the first goal on the board for the Seahawks at the 13:48 mark.
- LTU would rattle off three goals in a roll to take the 3-1 lead with 6:45 left in the first.
- Keiser would respond with a Jack Weilandt goal with 6:03 remaining to cut the Blue Devils lead to one.
- Max Hiestand tied the game at the 1:35 mark as the teams would go to the second quarter all even at 3-3.
Keiser 4, Lawrence Tech 3
- Josten Ucros netted the only goal in the second quarter at the 6:25 mark to give the Seahawks a 4-3 advantage going into the half.
- The low-scoring game was the partial result of Cole George stopping 12 shots by the half.
Keiser 5, Lawrence Tech 3
- The Seahawks would again be the only team scoring in the quarter as this time it was Michael Shephard scoring off a pass from Weilandt to give Keiser a 5-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Keiser 6, Lawrence Tech 7
- Lawrence Tech would open the quarter with back-to-back goals in the first two minutes to tie the game at 5-5.
- Tehaluntasele Cornelius would break the stalemate for LTU with a goal at the 6:18 mark.
- Penalties would haunt the Seahawks as the Blue Devils would score the only man-up goal of the game with 2:47 left in the fourth to put LTU up 7-5.
- Shephard would strike back with a goal at the 1:51 mark to leave the Seahawks within striking distance, however, two more penalties left Keiser a man down until there were just 23 seconds left to play.
- With 13 seconds left the Seahawks would attempt a last-ditch effort, but it would fail as the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils would claim a 7-6 victory.
- 2: Cole Stassi picked up two assists in the game to lead the team in the category.
- 2: Shephard's two goals were a team-best on the afternoon.
- 2: Tyler Suckling-Ward and Reese Niemeier both caused two turnovers in the contest.
- 6/8: Cam Provines led the team with six groundballs and eight won faceoffs.
- 18: Cole George had another career-high day between the sticks, stopping 18 shots to tie the program record.
