No. 3 Men's Lacrosse Prevails in Battle with Shorter, 14-6

The No. 3 Keiser Seahawks left Rome with another win on their resume as they defeated the Hawks of Shorter, 14-6. With the win, Cole George became the all-time program leader in goalkeeper wins.

First Quarter
Keiser 2, Shorter 2
  • Josten Ucros got the scoring started for the Seahawks at the 13:06 mark in the first. 
  • Vincent Cerasuolo doubled the advantage for Keiser with a goal of his own with 11:38 on the clock
  • The Hawks answered with two goals of their own before the end of the quarter bringing the score level heading into the second.
Second Quarter
Keiser 9, Shorter 3
  • For the second game in a row, Keiser controlled the second quarter of play.
  • Cerasuolo netted his second and third goals of the contest by the 12:43 mark to give KU the 4-2 lead.
  • Ryan Schwartz took advantage of the man-up opportunity in the 11th minute to put the Seahawks up 5-2.
  • Following Shorters' third goal, Keiser put four more goals on the board before the half with Michael Shephard, Jack Weilandt, Cerasuolo, and Max Hiestand all scoring in the run. 
  • The Seahawks would head to the break with a 9-3 lead.

Third Quarter
Keiser 10, Shorter 5
  • Cerasuolo's fifth goal got the scoring started in the third with 9:29 showing.
  • The Hawks were able to respond with two goals of their own in the quarter to bring the score to 10-5 heading into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 14, Shorter 6
  • Hiestand found the back of the net for the second time in the afternoon at the 11:37 mark in the final period.
  • The day however belonged to Cerasuolo who scored his sixth and seventh goals of the match to bring the KU lead to 13-5 with 9:46 remaining.
  • Trevor Hall got on the board with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
  • Shorter would score with 14 seconds on the clock but it was too late as Keiser went on to win, 14-6.

  • 2: Keiser moves to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 against the Shorter Hawks
  • 2: Ryan Schwartz and Kylle Epstein tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with two.
  • 7/7: Vincent Cerasuolo led the team in goals and points with seven apiece.
