The Keiser women's soccer season came to a close on Saturday as the Seahawks fell to the Spring Arbor Cougars in the NAIA Semifinal, 3-2.
- Spring Arbor took to the attack early but had both of their early shots blocked.
- Keiser would take control soon after with Maja Lundman crossing a ball across the box that found Kyoka Koshijima who struck the ball past the diving keeper to put Keiser ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute.
- In the 26th minute, Spring Arbor used a corner kick aimed at the back post that found the head of Mackenzie Selvius who guided it into the net to tie the game.
- Grace McClellan would parry the final attempt from the Cougars in the 42nd minute as the game would remain tied heading into the half.
- The Seahawks opened the second half with pace, forcing back-to-back corners in the 51st minute.
- On the second corner, Georgia Little whipped a ball into the box that was probably on its way in but Lauren Riley put the finishing touch on it to give KU a 2-1 advantage.
- The Cougars would have another chance in the 59th minute but McClellan would be up to it and stop the shot.
- Spring Arbor would continue their attacks into the Keiser half forcing multiple corners in the 74th minute.
- Following a foul near midfield, the ensuing free kick was lifted into the box and headed home by Mackenzie Selvius to tie the game at 2-2.
- Both sides would take their chances but neither prevailed before the horn sounded marking full-time.
- The first overtime went by with neither side creating anything worth interest as they moved into the second half of overtime.
- Keiser would have two chances in the second overtime period but the Spring Arbor defense would block both of Riley's efforts.
- The Cougars would use another set piece cross to score the eventual game-winner with less than a minute left in the second overtime.
- Keiser ends the year with a 22-1-1 record, 28-13-2 in NAIA Postseason play.
- The Seahawks fall to 2-2-2 in semifinal matches and 1-1-1 against Spring Arbor all-time.
- Riley's 13th goal of the year put her in a tie for the team lead at the end of the year with Ramona Kannady.
- McClellan will end her season with multiple season-bests in wins, shutouts, goals allowed average, and save percentage.
- As a team, the 2022 Seahawks will have the record for most shutouts in a season with 16 on the year.
- The 22 wins on the year are the second most for any team in program history.
- This season marks just the fourth time that a Seahawks' team finished with just one loss.
