Seahawks Net Three To Win the First Round of NAIA Tournament

Location: 1st Source Bank Field, Winona Lake, Ind.

No. 9 men's soccer shut out the (RV) Bulldogs of Concordia (Neb.) in the first round of the NAIA Tournament in the Winona Lake Bracket. Rui Reis recorded back-to-back goals to put the Seahawks on the board in the second half. 

.How it Happened
  • In the 59th minute, Reis put the ball in the back of the net with a pass from Charlie Hennen and Lucas Jacobs to put Keiser on the board. 
  • Reis found another great oppurtunity to score again in the 84th minute with an assist by Alejandro Valera Sabio. 
  • Nikolas Cam Orellana was able to put his foot on the ball and score after a save from the Bulldogs goalie to improve the game to 3-0. 
   Game Notes
  • Despite the cold weather and the snow the Seahawks shut out the Bulldogs the eliminate them from the tournament. 
  • With the win, Keiser improves to 11-5-2 all-time in the NAIA Tournament.
  • The win improves the Seahawks to 4-0-2 all-time in the First Round.
  • Keiser has now won six straight NAIA Tournament games (dating back to last year).
  • The shutout was the sixth all-time for the Seahawks in the NAIA Tournament. 
  • With the win, Keiser has advanced to the NAIA Second Round for the fourth straight year.
  • The first half of the match went scoreless for both teams. 
  • In the second half, Reis notched back-to-back goals in this match has improved to 14 goals in the season. He remains the leader in goals for the Seahawks. 
  • Gabi Villafane is now tied with Lucas Jacobs, Cam Orellana, and Jack Casey for leaders in assists with 6 each. 
  • Following with five assists in the season is Hennen as he recorded his fifth one tonight. 
  • Forward, Cam Orellana registered his third goal of the season. 
  • There were three cards issued to the Seahawks during the match. 
  • Nine of the Seahawks starters played the entire match.
