No. 1 women's soccer proved too much for the No. 10 Fire on Saturday afternoon in Lakeland, Florida.
Maja Henriksson showed off yet another tool of her skill set as she scored both of the Seahawks' goals.
- Southeastern would attack early, putting two attempts toward the Keiser net but neither shot had much threat.
- Maja Lundman would respond with the first chance for the Seahawks in the ninth minute, but the keeper for the Fire would make her first save.
- Both teams would trade corner kick opportunities leading through the first 19 minutes of action.
- In the 20th minute Maja Henriksson would take a ball from the midfield, weave through the defense, and bury a shot into the left corner of the net to put KU ahead 1-0.
- Eight minutes later it was Maja Lundman in the box who tapped a pass to Henriksson who once again found the back of the net to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead.
- The Seahawks would remain on the attack, adding two more shots before the end of the half to leave the shot advantage at 7-6 heading into the break.
- Keiser would have the early chance in the second half as Lundman fired a shot just high of the net in the 52nd minute.
- The attack was relentless as the Seahawks peppered the keeper with seven shots to the Fire's zero in the first 30 minutes of the second half.
- Coming off the bench, Kyoka Koshijima came the closest to scoring in the second half with a header that was just tapped over the bar by the SEU keeper in the 73rd minute.
- Southeastern would not give up as they would have two shots in the 82nd and 86th saved by Grace McClellan before shooting a ball that bounced off the post just seconds later.
- It would not be enough as the Seahawks' defense would clear the ball long before time would run out and the score remained at 2-0 in favor of KU.
- In their 15th game of the season, the Seahawks earned their 14th win and 10th shutout of the season.
- KU also improved to 5-0-1 in ranked contests this season, 57-30-10 all-time.
- Henriksson nearly doubled her goal total on the season as she now has five goals for the Seahawks.
- Lundman did double her assist total from one to two in the 28th minute.
- Though she came off the bench, Koshijima played in her 99th game for Keiser as the Senior hopes to be the first Seahawk to reach the 100-game milestone.
- With the shutout, McClellan not only secures the fourth spot on the all-time wins leaderboard but also earns her the 22nd shutout of her career.
