Despite 20-point games by both Antwan Claxton (22) and Core'von Lott (20), the Keiser men's basketball team fell to the Florida Memorial Lions, 73-67, on Thursday night.

Trailing by two with 00:23 remaining in the game, Keiser was forced to send the Lions to the line. FMU converted on both trips, resulting in the six-point loss.   

 
How it Happened



First Half

Florida Memorial 34, Keiser 23
  • A 3-pointer by Antwan Claxton gave Keiser a 5-2 lead with 17:01 on the clock.
  • The Lions took a 9-7 lead following a trey by Jacobi Gordon at the 14:49 mark.
  • FMU went on an 8-0 run over the span of four minutes to extend its lead, 14-7, with 10:53 left in the half.
  • Florida Memorial pushed its lead to 12, 24-12, following a layup by Gary Adams with 7:01 on the clock.
  • A 3-pointer by Core'von Lott with 2:18 on the game clock pulled the Seahawks within seven, 27-20.
  • The Lions out-scored the Seahawks, 7-3 in the final 1:38 on the first half to take a 34-23 lead into the break.

Second Half

Florida Memorial 73, Keiser 67
  • The Seahawks used a 8-0 run in the early part of the second to cut the Lion's lead to five, 36-31. 
  • Claxton scored six of the team's eight points during that run.
  •  A 3-pointer by Eric Hester made score 41-31 in favor of the Lions with 17:30 left in the game.
  • Quinton Glaspie capped off a 6-0 run for the Seahawks with a made layup, pulling Keiser with four, 43-39 (15:22).
  • The Seahawks used an 11-0 run midway through the second half to take a five-point lead, 50-45, with 12:32 left in the game.
  • FMU tied the game, 51-51, at the 10:05 mark after a made layup by Jonathan Vilchez.
  • Trailing 53-51, Glaspie tied the game with a pair of made free throw at the 9:14 mark.
  • The Lions pushed their lead to 58-53 at the 6:45 mark, scoring five unanswered points.
  • Trailing by as many as nine points, KU battled back, cutting the deficit to two following a made trey by Marko Radulovic, 69-67 (00:23).
  • However, FMU held on to escape with the 73-67 win.

  • With the loss, Keiser drops to 11-10 (5-6 SUN) on the year.
  • With the loss, the Seahawks drop to 28-7 all-time versus the Lions.
  • The loss marks the second straight for the Seahawks versus FMU.
