The fourth-ranked Keiser men's lacrosse team rallied from a two goal halftime deficit to defeat No. 5 Saint Ambrose, 12-7, Thursday afternoon in the NAIA Quarterfinals.Â
With the victory, the Seahawks advance to the NAIA Semifinals for the first time since the inaugural season in 2017.
Keiser 1, Saint Ambrose 3
- Anthony Senior put the Seahawks in front with the first goal of the day at the 12:40 mark.
- Saint Ambrose responded with three unanswered goals to hold a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Keiser 3, Saint Ambrose 5
- Keiser cut into the deficit, 3-2, as Hunter East found the back of the net with 11:37 remaining.
- After both sides connected with the cage, Saint Ambrose tallied the final goal of the half to take a 5-3 lead into the break.
Keiser 9, Saint Ambrose 6
- Cole Stassi connected with East for the opening goal of the second half, trimming the deficit, 5-4, at the 13:52 mark.
- Following a Fighting Bees goal, Dylan Sharpe drew the Seahawks back to within one, 6-5, with his first goal of the day as 9:20 showed on the clock.
- John Senior leveled the score, 6-6, with his 22nd goal of the season as 6:52 remained in the third.
- Sharpe used a spin cycle to shake the Saint Ambrose defense and connected with the back of the cage to give Keiser their first lead, 7-6, of the afternoon at the 4:49 mark.
- Keiser registered the final two goals of the quarter to head to the fourth with a 9-6 lead.
- Sharpe picked up his third hat-trick of the season in the quarter.
Keiser 12, Saint Ambrose 7
- Senior opened the scoring in the fourth and later capped off his fourth hat-trick of the season following a Saint Ambrose goal, upping the KU lead to 11-7 with 6:41 remaining in the contest.
- The score by the Fighting Bees ended a 7-0 Keiser run.
- East collected his fourth hat-trick of the season as the senior registered the final score of the contest as Keiser went on to win 12-7.
- 1: This was the first-ever meeting all-time between the Seahawks and Fighting Bees.
- 2: Mayson Flederbach caused a game-best two turnovers.
- 3: Keiser improves to 3-3 all-time in the NAIA postseason.
- 3: Three different Seahawks registered a hat-trick.
- 4: Stassi dished out a game-high four assists.
