Men's Basketball Uses Strong Second Half to Pound Vermont Tech, 89-65

A hot-shooting second half for the Seahawks (62.1 percent) resulted in a 24-point victory for the Keiser men's basketball team, defeating the Vermont Tech Knights, 89-65, on Wednesday. It marked the largest margin of victory for the Seahawks this season as KU ended the 2021 calendar year with the team's second straight win.

Keiser used a 14-2 run to start the second half to push the team's lead to 16 (51-35) with 16:18 remaining.   
 

 
How it Happened



First Half

Keiser 37, Vermont Tech 33
  • Vermont Tech jumped out to its largest lead of the game (five points) following a 3-pointer by Cyncere Watkins, 7-2 (17:21).
  • Core'von Lott cut the lead to 7-5 with a 3-pointer of his own with 16:46 left in the half.
  • The Knights pushed their lead back to five, 10-5, with a trey by Marquise Moore (16:21).
  • Tylar Cerez hit a 3-pointer with 14:24 remaining in the first half to cap off a 9-0 run by the Seahawks and give Keiser a 14-10 lead with 14:24 left in the first.
  • Back-to-back shots from downtown (Marko Radulovic and Jalen Scott) extended the Keiser lead to nine, 26-17, with 8:07 on the clock - the Seahawks' then-largest lead.  
  • Lott gave the Seahawks a 10-point lead, 30-20 with a made layup off a steal by Antwan Claxton
  • Radulovic hit a trey with 6:22 remaining in the half to give KU a 33-22 lead.
  • Vermont Tech used 9-0 run to pull within two, 33-31 (1:36).
  • KU closed out the first half with a 37-33 lead.
Second Half

Keiser 89, Vermont Tech 65
  • The Seahawks opened the second half with a 14-2 run as Keiser took a 51-35 lead with 16:18 left in the game. 
  • Keiser pushed its lead to 19 (69-50) following a made trey by Lott with 6:33 remaining.
  • Lott hit his second straight 3-pointer as KU took a 22-point lead, 72-50 (6:10).
  • A pair of made free throws by Claxton made the score, 75-53, with 5:04 on the clock.
  • Cerez hit a 3-pointer with 3:24 remaining to push the Keiser lead to 24 (81-57).
  • Radulovic gave the Seahawks their biggest lead of the game, 84-57, with a 3-pointer at the 2:53 mark.
  • The Seahawks maintained their 20-point advantage over the remaining minutes of the contest, to come away with the team's largest margin of victory this season, 89-65.
