No. 2 Men's Soccer Suffers First Loss of the Season

The Keiser Seahawks suffered the team's first loss of the season falling to Florida National, 1-0, on Wednesday. A lone goal in the 58th minute by the Conquistadors led to the non-conference loss.


.How it Happened
  • Through the first 45 minutes, KU held a 9-4 edge in total shots. 
  • The Seahawks kept FNU goalkeeper Rodrigo Festuccia on his toes, forcing the Conquistador net-minder to make four saves in the first half.
  • Alvaro Jimenez Valera was responsible for two of those scoring chances - both coming early in the first half (19th & 20th minute)
  • At the half, the score was tied, 0-0.
  • FNU broke the scoreless tie in the 58th minute with a goal by Bautisa Dominguez (assist from Santiago Leaniz).
  • The Conquistadors tallied 12 of their 16 total shots in the second half, out-shooting the Seahawks, 12-8.
  • The Seahawks pressed to tie the game, notching four more shots on goal in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.
  • The Seahawks ended the game, holding a 17-16 edge in total shots (8-6 on net).
  • Goalkeeper Felipe Godoy recorded five saves in the loss.

Game Notes
  • Wednesday's loss snapped an eight-game, non-conference unbeaten streak for the Seahawks.
  • The loss dropped KU to 1-1-1 all-time versus FNU.
  • With the 1-0 loss, KU has allowed just four goals through the first seven games of the season (0.57 GAA).
  • Wednesday's loss marked the first time the Seahawks have been shut out since a 1-0 loss versus Thomas on October 19, 2019.
