No. 4 Men's Soccer Downs Webber International in Overtime, 2-1

The Seahawks claimed their sixth conference win of the season with a "golden goal" by Vincent Piwernetz in overtime - his first score of the season. With the win, KU remains atop the Sun Conference Standings (tied with No. 7 St. Thomas).


.How it Happened
  • Keiser took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute with a goal by Lucca Carvalho. The goal, his fourth of the season, came on a shot with the outside of his right foot.
  • The goal was set up by Luca Malvicini and Charlie Hennen, who were both credited with assists on the score. 
  • The Seahawks took the one-goal lead into halftime.
  • KU out-shot the Warriors, 12-2, in the first 45 minutes.
  • The Seahawks continued to dominate play in the second half, but WIU tied the game in the final minute with a goal by Marc Bonafe.
  • The Warrior forward scored on a cross by Giovanni Galeb, who earned the assist.  Rodrigo Flores Iraheta was also credited with an assist on the score.
  • Unable to decide an outcome in regulation, KU was forced to go to overtime for the second straight match.
  • It took just six minutes to come away with a result as Piwernetz netting the game-winner in the first overtime frame.
  • Goalkeeper Dario Salzer (3-0-1, 0.347 GAA), this week Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made two saves en route to the win.
  • For the match, KU held a 26-9 edge in total shots and a 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.  

Game Notes
  • With the win, KU improved to 6-0-1 in Sun Conference play. 
  • With the win, the Seahawks have clinched a first-round bye in this year's Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championship.
  • It marked the second overtime match for KU this season. The Seahawks are now 22-12-16 all-time in overtime games.
  • The win sets up a "winner-take-all" match with St. Thomas (next week) for SUN Regular Season crown.
  • The win extends KU's current winning streak to 11 straight versus the Warriors.
  • The Seahawks improved to 13-1-0 all-time versus the Warriors at Arrigo-Vecellio FIeld. 
  • The win moves Keiser to 10 wins, marking the fourth straight year of double-digit victories for the Seahawks.
