Despite a career-high tying four goals from
Madalyn Huber, the No. 4 Keiser women's lacrosse team dropped their first contest of the season on the road to No. 1 SCAD-Savannah, 24-15 Sunday afternoon.
Keiser 8, SCAD 10
- SCAD claimed the early advantage with a free position goal by Sydney Knego with 26:26 remaining in the opening half.
- An unassisted goal by Se'Anna Beikirch knotted the game at one-apiece with 22:32 showing on the scoreboard.
- The Bees ran off six straight goals to claim their largest lead of the half 7-1, at the 15:38 mark.
- Back-to-back tallies from Melanie Brown and Beikrich cut the deficit to four with 10:47 to go.
- Following a SCAD tally, two goals by Madalyn Huber and a Cat Raymond goal brought the Seahawks to within two, 8-6, with 5:23 remaining.
- The Bees briefly halted the run but Jade Dougherty and Beikrich found the back of the net to trail 9-8 with 2:33 left.
- SCAD notched the final goal of the half at the 1:35 mark to lead the Seahawks 10-8 at the intermission.
Keiser 15, SCAD 24
- The Bees ran off the first three goals of the second half, upping their advantage to 13-8 with 25:47 left.
- Three straight goals by three different Seahawks brought KU to within two, 13-11, with 22:33 to go.
- SCAD answered back with five unanswered tallies, extending their lead to 18-11 with 19:05 remaining in the game.
- Melanie Brown assisted on the next two goals for the Seahawks as the margin came down to five at the 16:41 mark.
- However, the Bees ran off seven straight goals to take a 23-13 advantage with 6:28 left in the contest.
- Keiser netted two of the final three goals of the game but suffered their first loss of the year, 24-15.
- 3: Three Seahawks tallied an assist on the afternoon, led by Brown with three
- 7: Huber led the way with four goals as seven different Seahawks reached the scoring column
- 9: Huber won a game-high nine draw controls for the Seahawks
- 14: Covell registered a game-high 14 saves in the loss
- 17: Keiser picked up 17 ground balls, including a team-high three by Beikirch
