No. 1 nationally ranked and second-seeded Keiser Seahawks fell to the top-seeded and No. 4 ranked Southeastern Fire by the final of 2-2, falling in penalty kicks by the tally of 4-2 for the Sun Conference Championship.

- The lone goal of the opening half came in the 41st minute when Madeleine Berghult played a long ball into the box from midfield, finding the foot of Alicia Drott, and beating the keeper to the far post.
- Southeastern took advantage of a failed clearance attempt by the Seahawks defense in the 48th minute for the tying goal.
- In the 57th minute, Amanda Ewald dropped a free kick and Jennifer Luna was right there to find the back of the net for the Fire's first lead of the night, 2-1.
- Emma Holmskov knotted the championship at two-apiece in the 65th minute, scoring off a great cross from the left side by Maja Henriksson.
- Neither team scored again as the championship moved to overtime and eventually penalty kicks for a third time in five years.
- In the overtime periods, Keiser held a 7-1 edge in shots with two of them going on frame.
- After both teams converted their first penalty kick, Holskov's shot down the middle was saved.
- Southeastern's next taker finished off her shot to the lower right corner to take a 2-1 lead.
- Alicia Drott was next for the Seahawks and had her attempt saved by a diving keeper to her right.
- The Fire scored on their next two attempts which was sandwiched between a M. Henriksson score as Southeastern won the championship in penalty kicks, 4-2.
- These two teams have played for the last five championships with the outcome at 1-1-3.
- Three of the last five championships have gone to penalty kicks with SEU holding a 2-1 edge in those.
- The Seahawks only loss and tie this season has come against No. 4 Southeastern.
- Both games this season were tied after regulation.
- Maxi Krug had a game-best eight shots with four on target.
- Amanda Ewald finished with four saves in goal.
