Running their two-minute offense, Keiser drove 98 yards in 13 plays, to knock off No. 8 Reinhardt in the closing moments Saturday afternoon at the Keiser Football Field in West Palm Beach, Fla.
After a pass interference call on fourth-and-goal gave the Seahawks new life with just over 20 seconds remaining in the game, quarterback,
Eli Mathews connected with
Caleb Walls on the near sideline for a four-yard score to seal the win.
Mathews completed 16-of-26 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown on the afternoon. Sophomore,
Jaylen Arnold was the lead pass catcher on the day with four catches for 99 yards, including a long of 51 yards. Running back,
Marques Burgess, led the ground attack for the Seahawks with 95 yards on 14 carries and a score.
Defensively, the Seahawks made a huge defensive stand late in the fourth quarter with just over two minutes remaining, forcing the Eagles to punt, allowing the Keiser offense to go into their two-minute offense.
Sage Chen-Young and
Ronnie Bennett each recorded 11 tackles to pace the Keiser defense.
Maurice Murphy Jr. forced the lone turnover on the afternoon as he stripped the ball from Reinhardt's running back, Trevae Cain, allowing
Corey Lamy to come away with the recovery for Keiser.
First Quarter Highlights
Keiser 7, Reinhardt 0
- Reinhardt won the toss but deferred to the second half, allowing the Seahawks to start off their 2019 home slate with the football.
- Both teams traded punts on the opening four possessions of the game before the Keiser offense finally gained some momentum.
- Burgess provided the spark as he broke free on the left side, taking it 35-yards to the house, putting the Seahawks up 7-0 with just under three minutes remaining in the quarter. The score capped off a nine play 65-yard drive.
- Traionn Jones provided a key block on the run as he sealed off the outside defender creating the lane for Burgess to score.
- On the ensuing possession by Reinhardt, linebacker, Coby Golden, came up with a huge stop for the Seahawks on third-and-four, dropping Terry Berdin for a two-yard loss and forcing a punt.
Second Quarter Highlights
Keiser 7, Reinhardt 0
- Keiser opened the second quarter with the ball on their own three-yard line, moving quickly down the field as Arnold busted free for a 51-yard reception, putting the Seahawks offense in business once again.
- Unfortunately, the Seahawks failed to come away with any points on the drive as Logan Robinson's 30-yard field goal was blocked by Trey Teasely.
- Neither team would get much going on their ensuing drives, but Reinhardt threatened just before the end of the half.
- Following a nice tackle behind the line by Brendan Parr which kept the Eagles short of the first down marker, Reinhardt sent out their field goal unit. However, Alex Hardy's 37-yard kick was wide right of the uprights turning the ball over to the Seahawks.
- Keiser ran out the clock on the following possession, taking the 7-0 lead into the break.
Third Quarter Highlights

- Reinhardt opened the second half of play with the ball but would quickly turn it over to the Seahawks as Murphy stripped Cain of the football and Lamy came away with the recovery at their own 17-yard line.
- Keiser was unable to capitalize on the turnover as a sack stalled out the drive and the Seahawks were forced to punt.
- The Eagles took their time on the next possession, eating up almost five minutes of clock before quarterback, Billy Hall, punched it in from 12-yards out capping off a 12 play 60-yard drive for their first score of the day.
- However, Hardy would miss the extra point wide left, keeping Keiser in front 7-6 with 6:01 remaining in the quarter.
- After a quick three-and-out by the KU offense, the Eagles triple option attack went right back to work, driving the ball deep into Seahawks territory.
- The Seahawks defense stood tall though inside the red zone stuffing the Eagles at the line of scrimmage on fourth-and-one, turning the ball over on downs at the Keiser 10-yard line. Lamy and Treykevian Gilbert were in on the stop for the Seahawks.
- On the ensuing drive, Mathews found Arnold for a 27-yard gain to their own 48-yard line, which was the final player of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter Highlights

- Unfortunately for the Seahawks, the drive stalled out and they had to punt it away to the Eagles.
- Hall and the Eagles offense chewed up six minutes and 44 seconds on their ensuing drive as they marched 70-yards in 13 plays to take their first lead of the day as Hall took it himself from 15-yards out for the score.
- Reinhardt's two-point conversion attempt failed as Otis Odom was knocked out-of-bounds short of the end zone by Chen-Young to make the score, 12-7, in favor of the Eagles.
- Keiser had no answer on their following possession going three-and-out with just over four minutes remaining in the contest.
- Needing a stop, the Seahawks defense forced a Reinhardt punt after a big gain by Hall was called back due to a holding penalty.
- The Seahawks took over at their own two-yard line after the punt with just two minutes and 10 seconds remaining in the game.
- Mathews connected with Jones for a 15-yard gain on third down to keep the chains moving and on the following play found Arnold across the middle for another big gain of 20-yards.
- Walls then became the go-to-target for the Seahawks, hauling in catches of 18, 17 and 28-yards, setting the Seahawks up at the Reinhardt eight-yard line with 33 seconds remaining in the contest.
- After the Seahawks spiked the ball on first down, Mathews failed to complete his next two passes setting up a fourth-and-goal.
- Mathews was looking for Arnold in the back of the end zone, but the two were unable to connect.
- However, the Seahawks got new life as a pass interference call on Reinhardt gave the Seahawks a new set of downs at the four-yard line.
- On the ensuing play, Mathews found Walls in the end zone for the four-yard score, putting Keiser back on top with 21 seconds remaining in the contest. The score capped off a 13 play 98-yard drive for the Seahawks to make it 14-12.
- The Eagles moved the ball all the way to their own 48-yard line to allow themselves one final heave down the field, but Schnider Louis knocked it down for the Seahawks to end the game.

Keiser hits the road for their final non-conference game of the season as they will travel to Lebanon, Tenn., for a matchup against the Phoenix of Cumberland. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. eastern time.
GAME NOTES
- This was the first ever matchup between Keiser and Reinhardt
- The win marked Keiser's first over a top 10 opponent in school history
- The Seahawks are now 1-1 in home openers
- Keiser has now won four straight at home and are 4-1 all-time at the Keiser Football Field
- The 11 tackles by Chen-Young set a new career high for the sophomore
- Lamy and Golden also recorded career highs in tackles with nine and eight respectively
- With their 138-yard performance on the ground, the Seahawks have now surpassed the century mark in 10 out of the 12 games played in school history
