TURNING POINT
About midway through the opening half, Keiser broke a 3-3 tie in a big way, holding the Warriors scoreless for a16 minute stretch of play as the Seahawks established a sizable advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A little less than four minutes into the contest, Towner opened the scoring with an unassisted tally. The senior proceeded to net another one with 24:47 on the clock after scooping up a loose ball and driving towards net to give Keiser the early 2-0 lead.
- Indiana Tech got on to the scoreboard with 21:54 left in the half, but Towner continued her fast start as she completed her hat-trick just 11 seconds later. The goal came after she collected the draw control and took it right to the cage.
- The Warriors produced a goal on a free-position before tacking on the tying goal at the 16:32 mark, forcing the Seahawks to call a timeout.
- The adjustments made from head coach Lauren Bennett proved wonders as the Seahawks rattled off eight unanswered goals to take an 11-3 advantage with just 1:15 left until the halftime whistle. Beikirch started the run and Cat Raymond ended the spurt with an unassited tally.
- Indiana Tech ended their 16 minute drought as Bailey Childs found the back of the net with 21 seconds remaining in the half and Keiser leading 11-4.
- The Warriors came out strong in the second half, scoring the first four goals to get within three, 11-8, with 17:03 remaining.
- Once again a timeout paid dividends for the Seahawks as they rattled off three straight goals. Raymond found Melanie Brown on a play out of the team huddles before Lomaglio and Dougherty scored unassisted goals to lead 14-8 with 12:00 to go.
- The Seahawks countered a Warrior goal with two more of their own, including a long run up the field by Reed for her season's first tally with 8:08 to play that made it 16-9.
- Beikirch then completed her hat-trick with 1:35 left in the contest to account for the 17-9 result that saw Keiser record their first postseason victory and advance to the NAIA Semifinals.
