KU HIGHLIGHTS
  • Keiser made its first ever NAIA Semifinal appearance after defeating Indiana Tech 17-9.
  • No. 5 Keiser's 2019 season concludes with the defeat to the two-time defending NAIA champion Bees. The 2019 Seahawks had the most wins in in program history, the highest ranking, No. 3, shared the inaugural Mid-South Conference regular season title, and earned the program's first NAIA Tournament victory.
  • Bridget Reddington paced the Keiser attack with three points on a goal and two assists.
  • Cat Raymond and Haley Mazreku each recorded two goals in the contest, while Melanie Brown finished with a goal and an assist.
  • Margo Reed forced four Bee turnovers, while Huber had a team-high four draw controls.
  • Goalkeeper, Jessica Covell led the way with eight ground balls, and a career-best 18 saves.
TURNING POINT
Keiser trailed 3-2 with 20:36 remaining in the opening half when SCAD-Savannah went on a big 7-0 run to gain what proved to be an insurmountable lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bees established a two-goal lead in the game's first five minutes of play, with both scores coming on the man-down.
  • Keiser's offense broke through with 22:03 on the clock, as Brown connected with Mazreku for the Seahawks' opening marker.
  • After SCAD converted on a free-position attempt, Brown caused a turnover, scooped up the ground ball, and scored the unassisted goal to bring the Seahawks to within 3-2 with 20:36 remaining in the half.
  • However, the game took a dramatic turn in favor of the two-time defending national champions, as the Bees accounted for the next seven goals to lead 10-2 with 8:16 remaining in half one.
  • Reddington's finish from the right side after an effective Keiser transition halted the run at the 5:47 mark, but the Bees continued to be crisp offensively and made it 11-3 on a man-up opportunity just one minute and 15 seconds later.
  • Kyli Towner won the ensuing draw control, and after a penalty on the Bees, Maria Johnson caught a pass from Reddington and beat the goalkeeper to bring it to 11-4 with four minutes until the half.
  • SCAD had the final tally of the half to go into the halftime intermission with a 12-4 lead.
  • The Bees rattled off the first two goals of the new half before back-to-back goals by Raymond in just a 32 second span drew Keiser to within 14-6 with 24:38 remaining in regulation.
  • A SCAD goal was then countered by a successful Huber free-position, but the Bees lead swelled to double digits, 17-7 with two unanswered goals, the second coming with just 10:49 still to play.
  • The Bees' defense remained compact and kept Keiser from making any comeback attempt, and although Mazreku got away from the defense for her second goal of the game with 1:10 on the clock, SCAD went on for the 18-7 victory and advanced to the NAIA National Championship game.
