  • Keiser recorded nine hits but stranded nine runners on base.
  • Colton Kenagy tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

Tough Stretch
Southeastern scored the first seven runs of the contest before Keiser was finally able to get on the board in the seventh inning, but by then the deficit was too much to overcome.

How it Happened
  • After a couple Seahawk errors and a hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out for the Fire in the bottom of the first, Chad Tworek was able to escape the bases loaded jam by forcing a 6-4-3 double play.
  • Keiser threatened to push across the game's first run as they loaded the bases in the top of the second on singles by Juan De La Cruz, Nate Vankan and Encarnacion, but a flyout ended the threat.
  • Southeastern opened the scoring with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to jump out to the early 4-0 lead.
  • The Fire extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth as five consecutive batters reached base to open the frame, but Tworek was able to control the damage by holding Southeastern to only two runs.
  • Southeastern would tack on another run in the bottom of the fifth to increase their lead to 7-0.
  • The Seahawks finally broke through on the scoreboard in the seventh as singles by Miguel Casanueva and Nick Diaz put runners on the corners, and Peter Crocitto followed with an RBI single that scored Casanueva for Keiser's lone run of the contest.

Keiser Highlights
  • Four different Seahawks recorded a hit in the series finale.
  • Mark Gottsacker drove in two of Keiser's four runs on the day.
  • Jake Voss came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings to help keep the game in reach.

Tough Inning on the Mound
After rallying for four runs in the top of the ninth to send the game to extras, the Keiser bullpen lost their command in the bottom of the 10th walking four Southeastern batters and hitting one with a pitch that allowed the winning run to cross the plate.

How it Happened
  • Diaz reached base on an error by the Southeastern third baseman to leadoff the first and advanced all the way to third, but the Seahawks were unable to drive him in and take the early lead.
  • Southeastern struck first in the bottom of the third courtesy of a two-run homer.
  • The Fire plated two more runs in the fourth after the first two batters of the inning reached base and then scored on a two RBI single.
  • Jake Voss, who came on in relief, worked out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth to keep the Fire lead at 4-0.
  • Shane Olive produced the Seahawks first hit of the contest with a single in the eighth that advanced Gottsacker, who reached on a leadoff walk, to second. An error by the Fire loaded the bases with two outs, but a fielder's choice ended the Keiser threat.
  • Looking to rally in the ninth, Garrett Hall led off the frame with a single and after a strikeout, De La Cruz drew a one-out walk. Gottsacker followed De La Cruz with a two-RBI double to trim the deficit to 4-2.
  • The Seahawks rally continued after a Southeastern pitching change as Vankan doubled on the first pitch he saw down the left field line and drove in Gottsacker to cut the lead to 4-3. After a sacrifice bunt by Casanueva moved Vankan to third, Vankan came home to score the tying run on a throwing error by the Fire's catcher.
  • The first two batters of the inning reached base for Southeastern in the bottom of the ninth and after a fielder's choice put runners at second and third, an intentional walk loaded the bases. Vargas, who entered the game in the eighth, escaped the bases loaded jam courtesy of a 4-2-3 double play that ended the inning and sent the game to extras.
  • Southeastern drew four consecutive walks in the bottom of the 10th forcing two Seahawk pitching changes, but a caught stealing and a strikeout looking gave Keiser a chance to get out of the inning unscathed. The Seahawks would not be so lucky this time around though as the Fire walked it off on a hit-by-pitch.
