Keiser Highlights
  • All nine Seahawk starters recorded a hit as the team finished with 20 hits in the opening game.
  • Chad Tworek threw his second straight complete game as he moved to 4-1 on the season. The senior struck out eight in the process.
  • Garrett Hall went four-for-five while finishing a triple shy of the cycle. He also drove in a pair of runs.
  • Peter Crocitto and Cristian Sanjurjo each finished with three hits, while Crocitto had a game-best four runs batted in.
  • The Seahawks finished with four doubles including two by Hall.
     
Home Run Derby
Both teams had three home runs with the Seahawks receiving long balls by Drew Reilly, Jonathan Fernandez, and Hall.

How it Happened
  • Luis Rodriguez drilled the first pitch of the game over the left-center fence for a 1-0 Ave Maria lead.
  • The Seahawks answered back in the bottom half with a pair of RBI singles by Crocitto and Nate VanKan to take a 3-1 advantage.
  • A leadoff home run in the second by the Gyrenes was matched in the bottom half by Fernandez with one-out as the score stood at 4-2.
  • Three straight singles ensued with two-outs as Crocitto drove in a run to lead 5-2. Reilly then cleared the bases with a three-run shot over the left field fence as the margin grew to 8-2.
  • Ave Maria connected on a solo home run in the top of the fourth but Hall answered with a two-run shot in the bottom half as the advantage ballooned to 10-3. Clutch two-out hitting by Encarnacion resulted in an RBI double down the left field line as the lead was now 11-3.
  • In the seventh, Crocitto ended the game early as he ripped a double off the left field fence as Keiser took game one, 13-3.

These two teams return to the diamond tomorrow for a doubleheader with game one set for noon.
