The top overall seed in the Sun Conference Tournament, Keiser men's soccer team defeated the fifth-seeded and No. 8 team in the NAIA, Southeastern, 5-4 in penalty kicks on Tuesday afternoon in the TSC semifinals. The game went through two overtime periods tied at three-apiece.
How it Happened
- The Sun Conference Player of the Year, Jake Van Der Luit was 1v1 with Ramon Talenti but Talenti came up with the big save, keeping the game scoreless in the 13th minute.
- Four minutes later, the Fire bagged the opening goal as Banabas Ganidekam scored from 30 yards out on an absolute laser into the bottom corner.
- The Seahawks drew even in the 31st minute as Miguel Cruz Zarraluqui scored an unassisted goal from within the middle of the box.
- Neither team found the back of the net again as the contest entered the half, tied at 1-1.
- Southeastern jumped back in front just one minute into the new half as Julian Hall dribbled all the way to goal from midfield and finished it off for the 2-1 advantage.
- The Fire extended their lead in the 64th minute as Hall scored his second goal of the contest, making it 3-1.
- Just two minutes, Evan Finnegan brought the Seahawks to within a goal with an absolute laser off a cross from Joe Rivera.
- With just one second remaining in regulation, Ciro Damine tied the game with a tap in off a free kick from Noah Grazino, sending everyone into an absolute craze.
- Not even a minute into the first overtime, Keiser had a golden opportunity to score as Hannu Tam's shot was saved and Damine's follow-up was saved by the final defender, keeping the game tied.
- A huge diving save by the Southeastern goalkeeper in the 96th minute kept Damine's point blank shot out of the back of the net.
- Tam had a pair of scoring opportunities in the 104th and 105th minutes but his shots were saved and high.
- The Freshman of the Year, Adrian Camacho Castro had his game-winning chance go high in the 107th minute.
- Neither team scored in the final three minutes as the contest went into penalty kicks.
