Turning Point
Cleary's starting pitcher Riley Thompson kept the KU batters off-balance all afternoon, holding the Seahawks to just five hits in the opening game.

How it Happened
  • The Seahawks and Cougars were held scoreless through the first four innings of play, combining for just seven hits.
  • Keiser had scoring chances in the first, third, and fourth innings, but was unable to convert on the opportunities.
  • Cleary broke the scoreless tie in the fifth with a one-out RBI groundout to second base, scoring an unearned run to take the 1-0 lead.
  • Two innings later, Cleary tacked on two more runs on Kaitlin Dormire's two-run single to left field, stretching their advantage to 3-0.
  • The Seahawks got a pair of runners in scoring position in their half of the inning but were unable to drive them home, falling 3-0.

Trailing by a run heading into the fourth, Keiser loaded the bases with nobody out. The Seahawks capitalized on the situation by plating two runs on a pair of RBI singles.
 
How it Happened
  • The Cougars scored the opening run of the game on Jordan Schneider's two-out solo home run in the first inning.
  • The Seahawks answered two innings later, scoring two runs on four hits to take their first lead of the afternoon.
  • A Cleary error followed by back-to-back bunt singles from Miller and Cheyenne Blumberg loaded the bases with nobody out.
  • Dominguez then tied the game with an RBI single through the left side, scoring pinch-runner Kelsie Thurman.
  • Two batters later, Ally Thompson singled through the left side, driving in pinch-runner Alikie Kandler to give the Seahawks their first lead of the day, 2-1.
  • Boyle allowed just three batters to reach base in the final three innings of the game, earning her first collegiate win as the Seahawks were victorious, 2-1.
