Game One
Keiser Highlights
  • The Seahawks managed just five hits in the opening game of the doubleheader.
  • Miguel Casanueva and Anfernee Torruella recorded extra-base hits during the contest.
  • Alec Lamrouex took the loss on the mound after going four innings and having just one strikeout.

Turning Point
Keiser trailed by a run in the bottom of the fourth when Peter Crocitto led off with a double to left. However, St. Thomas retired the next three batters to escape the inning with no harm done. The Seahawks only managed three hits during the final five innings of play.

How it Happened
  • A two-out RBI single up the middle by Jack Diaz put the Bobcats up 1-0 in the second, before the Seahawks answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half.
  • Following a four-pitch walk to Marco Rivera, Torruella drilled the first pitch he saw down the right-field line for a triple and a 1-1 tie.
  • Miguel Casanueva gave the Seahawks their first lead of the series with an RBI groundout to second.
  • The Bobcats regained the advantage in the fourth with a one-out, two-run, single to right center, making it 3-2.
  • STU then added a pair of runs in the fifth and seventh to lead 7-2 but KU got a run back in the bottom half.
  • Torruella drew a one-out walk before moving to third on a double to left-center by Casanueva. CJ Fitzpatrick delivered the lone-run with a slow chopper to the shortstop, making it 7-3.
  • However, the Bobcats broke the game open in the eighth with four runs and added five in the ninth to come away with the 16-3 victory.

Game Two
Keiser Highlights
  • The Seahawks smashed five home runs during the contest, including four in the final two frames.
  • Keiser outhit the Bobcats 14-10 with Casanueva going a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish, including the walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.
  • Jonathan Fernandez finished a triple shy of the cycle during the second game, going 3-for-4 at the dish.
  • Chris Graffeo notched his first win of the year on the mound, throwing 1.2 innings, limiting STU to two hits.
  • Victor Hughes finished with a no-decision despite striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings, in his start.

Turning Point
The Seahawks ability to go deep when it mattered the most during the second game of the doubleheader, proved to be the difference. Keiser trailed 7-3 in the eighth before connecting on three solo home runs and a two-run blast to complete the come from behind victory, 8-7.

How it Happened
  • Each team started the game with a leadoff single but neither were able to do anything with the runner in scoring position.
  • The next two innings saw just one hit by the Seahawks with Hughes striking out five Bobcats before their leadoff hitter reached in the fourth via an error on the second basemen.
  • STU capitalized two-batters later with an unearned run on an RBI single to right by Nelson Mompierre to take a 1-0 advantage.
  • Keiser quickly tied it in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly to right by Ryan Gronlier, plating Rivera, who reached on a leadoff single.
  • Freshman, Fernandez, put the Seahawks in front during the fifth when he cleared the left field fence for his first collegiate home run.
  • However, the Bobcats one-upped the Seahawks in the very next inning with a two-run blast to left, retaking a 3-2 lead.
  • Keiser retied the game in the bottom half with a two-out RBI single to left by Casanueva, pushing across Fernandez from second. Casanueva was thrown out at the second trying to stretch his hit.
  • The Bobcats tagged their second two-run home run of the game in the eighth, this time by Mompierre to climb back in front 5-3. STU added two more runs in the inning on a sacrifice fly and a two-out double, making it 7-3.
  • Keiser came roaring back in the eighth with four runs on four hits to equalize the game. Crocitto began the frame with a single and came around to score on a two-run homer to left center by Rivera, cutting the deficit to 7-5.
  • Back-to-back solo home runs by Tivon Faneyte and Karsten Sherman knotted the game at 7-7.
  • Casanueva then won it for the Seahawks, lifting a homer over the left field fence, to complete the come from behind win, 8-7.
