No. 4 Women's Soccer Advances to Final Four With Shutout of Northwest

The No. 4 Keiser women's soccer team blanked Northwest 4-0 in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship. With the win, the Seahawks advance to the final four of the National Tournament for a third time in program history.

Stat of the Match
The potent first half offense of Keiser has been on display all tournament as the Seahawks have bagged five goals in that stretch including three this afternoon.

How it Happened
  • The Seahawks netted the opening goal in the 18th minute off a corner kick from Filippa Millqvist as Emma Holmskov found the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage.
  • Freshman, Matilda Ovenberger broke the single season scoring record in the 24th minute with her 31st goal of the season off a great feed from Ebba Gustafsson.
  • Keiser made it 3-0 in the 43rd minute as Kyoka Koshijma slotted the ball home off a through ball from Maxi Krug.
  • Nina Haeberlin dove to her left in the 47th minute to preserve the shutout as Northwest had their best scoring opportunity of the game thus far.
  • Three minutes later, Ovenberger nearly had her second goal of the day but her shot banged off the crossbar and cleared out of danger.
  • Holmskov bagged her second goal of the contest in the 60th minute as the sophomore scored off her initial saved shot.
  • The Eagles outshot the Seahawks 5-1 in the final 30 minutes but Haeberlin came up big each time to preserve the shutout.
 
Game Notes
  • Keiser picked up their 19th victory of the season, a new program record.
  • The Seahawks have made two other appearances in the final four (2013, 2014).
  • In the 2018 NAIA tournament, KU has outscored their opponents 11-0.
  • Ovenberger, a freshman, became the single season goal leader with 31, surpassing Helsen Lynskey (2012) and Johanna Engberg (2014) with 30.
  • Holmskov, a sophomore, tallied her first career multi goal game.
  • For the second straight game, KU used their entire roster in the game.
  • This was the second meeting of the season for these teams with KU coming out on top both times.
  • The Seahawks have not conceded a goal in the last 560 minutes.
  • Haeberlin recorded her 11th shutout of the season and eighth straight after making four saves.
