Match Summary
No. 3 Keiser cruised to a 5-1 victory over No. 13 San Diego Christian in the Seahawks first match in 26 days. Keiser jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles and won three straight singles tilts to claim the 5-1 edge over the Hawks in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16.

Doubles
  • Bastien Sorg and Shaquille Taylor opened the 2017 NAIA Men's Tennis National Tournament for Keiser with a convincing 8-1 victory over Jan-Erik Isermann and Joey Rivera.
  • Julian Turosienski and Romai Ugarte doubled the Keiser lead to 2-0 with an 8-5 triumph over Leonardo Urquidi and Fabian Daniel in the third doubles slot.
  • The Hawks avoided the doubles sweep as Aliaksandr Meliuk and Alessandro Moriano bested Clement Raymond and Francesco Oliva, 8-6, despite Raymond and Oliva storming back from a 5-1 deficit.

Singles
  • Ugarte quickly dismantled Daniel in the fifth singles spot with a 6-2, 6-1 lopsided victory to push Keiser's advantage back to two.
  • Sorg took down the sixth-ranked singles player, Urquidi, by the final score of 6-1, 6-4 to pull the Seahawks to within one victory of clinching the match.
  • Arthur Bonnaud did what he has done all year, clinching yet another victory for Keiser as "Boy Wonder" walked away with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Isermann in the No. 4 singles position.

Coach's Corner
"We came out a little flat early on today but honestly that's the danger you run into when you have a first-round bye," stated head coach Daniel Finn. "The team you play already has rhythm and San Diego Christian came out with intensity and a good game plan today, ready to fight. Our boys did a good job of controlling play and playing well when they needed to. Once we got in the singles play the boys really took control of the match and were able to put it away. Definitely happy to get the win today but now we are focusing on our match tomorrow in the quarterfinal."

Up Next
With the win, Keiser advances to its second consecutive quarterfinals appearance and will take on No. 6 Lindsey Wilson at 10 a.m. ET. Tomorrow at the Mobile Tennis Center.
