Keiser Highlights
- With the 13-1 victory this afternoon, Keiser claimed its second TSC Regular Season title in three years and claims at least the regular season or tournament title for the third consecutive year.
- Keivan Berges and Dylan Dore finished the contest with a team-high two hits apiece as Berges notched one RBI in the process.
- Tivon Faneyte and Jack Curtis each unloaded one homerun apiece, including Curtis belting a grand slam that ended the contest in the eighth inning due to the 10-run rule.
- Curtis' grand slam was the first Keiser grand slam at Silvester Field this season as the grand salami clinched the TSC regular season title for Keiser.
- Miguel Castellanos pitched a complete game, allowing only eight hits and one run while striking out three batters for his sixth win of the season.
Â
Turning Point
Keiser's three-run second inning proved to be the difference maker in the final conference game of the season. The Seahawks entered the inning tied at one apiece until Faneyte cranked a solo shot to take the 2-1 lead with one out. Keiser then stretched its lead to 4-1 following back-to-back Sand Shark errors, putting the game out of reach of USCB.
Â
How it Happened
- Keiser struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Carlos Pena reached on a fielder's choice, plating Zack Saldivar from third for the 1-0 lead.
- USCB evened the contest in the top of the second inning following Nick Payne's RBI single up the middle, plating Bobby Wenthe who led off the inning with a double.
- Tivon Faneyte placed the Seahawks back on top in the bottom of the second inning following a one-out solo shot over the left center field wall for the 2-1 advantage.
- The Seahawks then plated two more runs in the inning following back-to-back Sand Shark errors to claim the 4-1 lead.
- Both offenses were held in check until the bottom of the seventh inning as Brad Myott laced a single to left field, plating Dylan Dore from second for the 5-1 advantage.
- Pena then singled to right field on the next at bat, bringing in Berges from third to provide the Seahawks with a 6-1 lead.
- USCB led off the top of the eighth with a double to left field but stranded the runner at second as Castellanos buckled down to record three consecutive outs to preserve the five-run lead.
- Keiser plated seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to halt the contest early due to the 10-run limit.
- Two of the first three runs in the inning came off bases-loaded walks, while the other was via an RBI single by Berges.
- Curtis plated the final four runs of the game with a game-ending grand slam over the left field fence, capping off the impressive offensive display from the Seahawks with a 13-1 victory.
