Game 1
Keiser Highlights
- Kyle Keatts began the weekend series on a strong note for the Seahawks, pitching a complete-game shutout, yielding just three hits and striking out eight batters in the process.
- Jack Curtis collected two of Keiser's eight hits while plating two of the team's three RBIs off a single up the middle.
- Keiser's shutout victory was the first game that the Seahawks have held their opponents scoreless since shutting out Florida Memorial on March 22, 2016 by the final score of 10-0.
Â
Turning Point
The turning point in game one came in the bottom of the third when Keiser plated two more runs to put the game out of reach of the Racers. With bases juiced, Curtis roped a single to center field to bring
Tyler Hitt and
Tivon Faneyte across the plate to stretch Keiser's lead to 3-0.
Â
How it Happened
- Keatts forced back-to-back 1-2-3 innings in the top of the first and top of the second, striking out four of the first six batters.
- The Seahawks struck first in the bottom of the second inning when CJ Fitzpatrick singled up the middle, bringing Steven Seiter across the plate and advancing Curtis to second.
- Northwestern Ohio threatened to score in the top of the third as Ortiz and Correa registered back-to-back singles with just one out.
- Keatts stepped up and slammed the door shut, forcing Fisher to fly out and then punching out Rodriguez.
- The Seahawks took advantage of the Racers' inability to capitalize as Keiser scored two runs on two hits in the bottom of the third, including a Curtis two-RBI single.
- The two squads combined for just three hits over the final four innings with neither team threatening to cross the plate.

- Daniel Garmendia received the nod in game two of the doubleheader, striking out six batters and surrendering just four hits.
Â
Turning Point
The turning point in game two proved to be the difference maker in the bottom of the seventh inning as Cardona cranked a walk-off home run off Garmendia. Cardona's homerun broke the 0-0 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Â
How it Happened
- Keiser was the first squad to threaten to score in the top of the second when Carlos Lopez led off with a double to left field.
- The Seahawks were unable to bring Lopez across the plate as he was thrown out at third later in the inning.
- Keiser had another chance in the top of the third inning when Gabby Mundo singled to right and later advanced to third after a stolen base and a fielder's choice.
- Once again the Racers escaped the jam as Faneyte flew out to center field to end the inning.
- The next big Seahawk threat came in the top of the sixth inning when Jack Curtis singled down the right field line, advancing Tyler Hitt to third with two outs.
- Steven Seiter was the next man up and he was unable to bring across the go-ahead run, striking out to end the threat.
- In the top of the seventh, Keiser once again had the ample opportunity to score the go-ahead run but was unable to do so as Faneyte flew out to right field, stranding runners on second and third.
- Northwestern Ohio seized the opportunity in the bottom of the seventh when Cardona stepped up and ripped the game-winning solo shot with one out in the inning.
