Set One
After falling behind 5-1, a kill by Medlock started a 7-3 spurt capped by an
Abbie Seward kill to tie the set at eight apiece. However, the Royals regained the advantage and held the Seahawks off until Keiser took their first lead of the match at 15-14. KU went on to lead by as many as five, 22-17 and came away in the first set, 25-21.
Set Two
Following a pair of lead changes and KU clinging to a 5-4 lead, an
Eshe Malone kill helped the Seahawks take four of the next five points to lead 9-5 and force a Warner timeout. The Royals responded out of the huddle, going on an 8-2 run to reclaim a 13-11 advantage. Keiser answered with a 5-1 run to take a 16-14 lead but the Royals tallied the next four points to take the advantage back at 18-16. KU managed to tie the set one last time at 21-21 but Warner closed out the set with four of the final five points, winning 25-22 and evening the match at 1-1.
Set Three
The Seahawks held onto a one-point lead until the set was tied at 5-5 and the Royals used an 8-2 spurt to take a 13-7 advantage. KU closed to within 14-10 but went to drop the set, 25-12 and trail 2-1 in the match.
Set Four
Warner raced out to an 8-2 advantage before a Medlock kill started an 8-1 run capped by a Seward kill to take a 10-9 lead and force a Royals timeouts. The Royals responded by taking the next two points but a Salazar kill sparked a 5-0 run to go back in front 15-11 and force the Royals into their final timeout. Again Warner had an answer out of a timeout as they ran off six of the next eight points to tie the set at 17-17. KU then held a one-point lead through three ties with the final being 20-20, before the Seahawks scored five of the final six points to win, 25-21 and tying the match at two-apiece.
