HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first ten minutes of the game saw five lead changes and three ties before a Brice Jenkins three pointer started a 7-0 run capped by a Tyrus Weaver basket to lead 16-10 at the 7:10 mark.
- Thomas scored four straight after the run making it 16-14 and stayed within a possession until a Jenkins three pointer made it 25-20 with 3:38 left in the half.
-The Nighthawks outscored KU 5-0 over the remainder of the half to tie the game at 27-27 heading into the break.
- Sarenac hit a three pointer to begin the new half, but Thomas ran off the next six to regain a 33-30 advantage.
- Keiser then used a 10-3 spurt highlighted by seven points by Stefan Zecevic to go back in front 40-36 with 15:01 left in regulation.
- Following a Thomas three pointer, a pair of McClenton free throws and a Sarenac three pointer extended the margin to 45-39 at 12:39 mark. However, TU rattled off six straight points, knotting the game at 45-45 with 10:47 left.
- Following the tie, two made free throws by Zecevic began a 10-0 run capped by a Sarenac three pointer giving Keiser their largest lead of the game, 55-45 with 8:48 to go.
-Thomas came right back with an 11-0 run of their own to retake the lead at 56-55 with 6:35 showing. Jenkins connected on a jumper, giving the Seahawks the lead back at 57-56 but Javoris Cooks responded with a three pointer to go back in front 59-57.
- Weaver was then fouled with 3:51 showing and split at the line to trail, 59-58. KU was then called with a blocking foul and two technicals which allowed Thomas to score five straight points upping the deficit to 65-58 with 2:10 left.
- Weaver again split at the line and a Sarenac three-pointer pulled KU to within 65-63 at the 1:01 mark. However, the Seahawks were unable to get any closer as the Nighthawks converted at the line, prevailing 71-67.
