Johanna Engberg netted her second goal of the season late in the 72nd minute to propel No. 9 Keiser ahead of No. 6 William Carey, 1-0. Engberg's program-tying 23rd game-winner was assisted by Kiera Heslam. The contest was played at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, the site of the 2016 NAIA National Women's Soccer Tournament.
 
Turning Point
Engberg's game-winning goal was the sealer for Keiser defeating William Carey this afternoon, 1-0. Engberg received the ball following a perfect pass from freshman defender, Kiera Heslam. Heslam delivered the cross from the left side as Engberg corralled the ball and buried a shot into the far corner past the outstretched arms of Abby Baravik.

  • Keiser scored a late second-half goal to elevate themselves ahead of No. 6 William Carey, 1-0.
  • Engberg scored her program-tying 23rd game-winner in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.
  • The Seahawks applied heavy pressure throughout the contest, outshooting the Crusaders 21-9, including 6-4 in shots on goal.
  • Elsa Netz recorded her fourth shutout of the season in goal for the Seahawks, recording four saves in the process.

  • With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 5-0 to start the season for the first time since 2008 when Keiser began the season 10-0.
  • Keiser has now shutout four opponents in the first five games, yielding just one goal.
  • Today's contest featured both the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week and NAIA Defensive Player of the Week in Keiser's Amanda Blixt and Crusader keeper Abby Baravik.
  • Today's game marked the second of three consecutive opponents that the Seahawks face that are in the NAIA Top 25.
