No. 2 Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated after Hard Fought Victory

No. 2 Keiser Seahawks women's soccer earned another one-goal victory on Wednesday at Arrigo Vecellio Field. This time, the Seahawks defeated Southeastern by the final score of 2-1, a squad that entered West Palm Beach with a perfect 7-0 record. With the victory, Keiser improves to 10-0 for the first time since 2008, including 3-0 in Sun Conference action.
 
Turning Point
Keiser secured the victory in the 85th minute of play when Johanna Engberg buried her second goal of the game to move the Seahawks ahead of Southeastern, 2-1. Engberg's goal came late in the second half, just 11 minutes after her equalizer in the 74th minute. The game winning goal was assisted by Filippa Millqvist and Elin Olsson.
 
How it Happened
  • The two squads drew to a 0-0 tie in the first half, despite Keiser outshooting Southeastern 10-3.
  • In the 21st minute, Matilda Nilsson laced a shot towards the net that was tipped over the frame by the keeper.
  • The Fire nearly found the back of the net in the 23rd minute when Alyssa Kaminski ripped a shot that banged off the crossbar.
  • Keiser saw another chance pass by when Renee Brown lined a shot that was saved by Sydni Brookhouser.
  • Southeastern broke the silence in the 65th minute of play when Shayna Cole netted her sixth goal of the season to give the Fire the 1-0 advantage.
  • Keiser found the equalizer in the 74th minute when Johanna Engberg notched her third goal of the season, assisted by Matilda Nilsson.
  • Engberg then placed Keiser ahead for good in the 85th minute with the game-winner, assisted by Filippa Millqvist and Elin Olsson.
