How it Happened
Set One:
Keiser breezed to a comfortable 25-8 first-set victory to open game two of the Labor Day Volleyfest. Johnson & Wales' eight points was the fewest that the Seahawks have allowed since giving up seven points in the first set to Johnson University on Oct 15, 2015. Keiser notched the set's first four points to jump out to the early lead. After the Wildcats cut the Keiser lead to three, the Seahawks blistered point after point to build a comfortable 13-3 advantage. From there, Keiser finished the set on a 12-5 scoring run.
Nikki McKown recorded four kills while Minke added three of her own to go along with a .500 hitting percentage. The Seahawks recorded a hitting percentage of .333 in the first set and held the Wildcats to -.308.
Â
Set Two:
Set two began much like the first one ended with the Seahawks dominating on the attack and on defense.
Nicole Papineau led the Seahawks to the early 9-0 advantage, recording two service aces. After the Wildcats scored their first point of the set, Keiser recorded four unanswered to claim the 13-1 advantage. The Seahawks rode the momentum to the 25-7 second-set triumph. Keiser's defense surrendered zero kills in the second set, holding the Wildcats to a -.222 hitting percentage while boasting a .636 hitting percentage of their own.
Â
Set Three:
Keiser capped off the impressive display of volleyball with a 25-6 third-set victory to sweep the Wildcats. With the final set tied at one apiece, the Seahawks scored 14 unanswered points to quickly extend the lead to double-digits and all but seal the deal. From that point on, Keiser outscored Johnson & Wales 10-5 to cruise to the 19 point victory. The Seahawks posted a .591 hitting percentage in the final set led by Minke's five kills.
