Keiser Volleyball fell to the Florida National Conquistadors this evening, 3-1, in Hialeah, Fla. Following the loss, the Seahawks fall to 10-2 on the season.
Chantelle Zamora and
Samantha Thompson led the team in kills with 10, while
Veera Hietala finished the contest with a season-high 19 digs. Silvia Galeano and Thalia Torres combined for 48 of the Conquistadors' 59 kills, leading Florida National to the 3-1 victory.

How it Happened
Set One:
Florida National claimed the first set after outscoring Keiser, 11-7 following a 14-14 tie midway through the first frame. Neither squad was able to pull away through the first 28 points as there were 11 ties early on. The Conquistadors pulled away and led by as much as five over the final 18 points of the first set before solidifying their four-point first set victory, 25-21.

Set Two:
The second set played out much like the first through the first 24 points with eight ties between the two squads. The Seahawks were able to pull ahead to a four point lead before Florida National stormed back to tie the set at 20 apiece. The two squads were evenly matched as they traded the next 10 points to set up the 25-25 dramatic tie. Back-to-back kills by
Chantelle Zamora and
Megan Minke captured the second set for the Seahawks, 27-25, forcing a guaranteed fourth set.

Set Three:
Florida National earned a critical third set victory despite the Seahawks jumping out to an early 7-4 advantage to begin the third set against the host Conquistadors. Florida National stormed back and claimed its first lead of the third frame, 9-8, forcing a Keiser timeout. The two squads fought tooth and nail, becoming deadlocked at 17 apiece late in the set. The Conquistadors took a commanding lead after the tiebreaker, claiming five unanswered points for a late 22-17 lead. Keiser was unable to overcome the late deficit, falling in the third set by five, 25-20.

Set Four:
For the second consecutive set, the Seahawks held an early 7-4 advantage. Florida National surged ahead of Keiser after rattling off five unanswered points to take a 9-7 advantage. The Seahawks rebounded to tie the contest at 12 apiece after kills by Minke and
Veera Hietala. The Conquistadors later claimed a 16-14 lead before Keiser recorded three unanswered points to take a 17-16 advantage. Florida National retaliated with three unanswered points of its own to take a 19-17 lead and force another Keiser timeout. Florida National maintained the momentum through the finish line, clinging to the 25-21 fourth set victory to win the match.

Up Next
Keiser will return back to action on Wednesday with a road contest against Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m. in North Miami, Fla. The Seahawks bested the Wildcats by the final score of 3-0 in the Labor Day Volleyfest hosted by Keiser. The host Seahawks only surrendered a total of 21 points during the three-set victory.
