Ebba Blomqvist, Sara Lundberg and Stephany Cabreja each notched second-half goals to lead Keiser to a 3-0 victory against NCAA Division II Palm Beach Atlantic on Monday at Arrigo Vecellio Soccer Field. The Seahawks are now 2-0-0 and will travel to Columbia, S.C., for a pair of contests this weekend.
 
Turning Point
The Seahawks claimed the advantage in the 60th minute on Blomqvist's first goal of the season. Following a PBA foul, Blomqvist lined up a free kick from 25 yards out. The Swedish sophomore laced the shot into the upper right-hand corner, out of the reaches of the PBA keeper to give Keiser the 1-0 advantage midway in the second half.
 
How it Happened
  • The Seahawks defeated their second consecutive NCAA Division II opponent this afternoon, besting PBA by the final score of 3-0.
  • The two squads drew the 0-0 tie in the first half for the second consecutive contest, with Keiser outshooting PBA, 7-1.
  • Ebba Blomqvist broke the tie in the 60th minute, curving a free kick into the top right corner of the net.
  • Sara Lundberg added to the Keiser lead in the 63rd minute, lacing a shot into the back of the net, assisted by Amanda Blixt.
  • The final Keiser goal came in the 89th minute when junior transfer, Stephany Cabreja, notched her first goal of the season, assisted by Blomqvist.
  • Elsa Netz recorded her second shutout of the season, notching three saves during the contest.
 
Game Notes
  • Today's contest marked the second consecutive NCAA Division II opponent that the Seahawks squared off against to open the 2016 regular season.
  • With the victory, the Seahawks improve to 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2012.
  • Keiser recorded its second consecutive shutout to start the season, a feat that has not been accomplished since shutting out SCAD and Berry College to begin the 2008 season.
  • Keiser's four goals this season have been netted by four different players.
