The Keiser University baseball team is the 2016 Sun Conference Tournament Champions for the first time in school history after their 13-5 win over St. Thomas this afternoon. The Seahawks will now await their location of the NAIA Regionals which will be released on Friday.

- St. Thomas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first before the Seahawks answered in the bottom half with a pair of RBI singles from Keivan Berges and Brad Myott to take a 3-1 advantage.
- In the third, a wild pitch upped the margin to 4-1 and a double play led to a second run in the inning making it 5-1. The Bobcats then plated two runs in the third and one in the fourth getting to within 5-4, but the Seahawks responded by pushing three runs across in the bottom half.
- Mundo led off with a double to right and walks to Berges and Jack Curtis loaded the bases with nobody out. Myott then brought in a pair of runs on a double down the right field line for a 7-4 lead. A Tyler Goff RBI single to center made it 8-4 and then Keiser used a huge seventh inning to distance themselves further.
- The Seahawks loaded the bases with one out when Goff was walked making it 9-4, and a Daniel Arroyo single to right and a huge throwing error cleared the bases raising the advantage to 13-4.
- St. Thomas scored one last run in the eighth but got no closer falling to the Seahawks 13-5.
- Berges started the game and went four innings allowing just five hits. Kyle Keatts (9-3) picked up his second win of the tournament going five innings in relief giving up just two hits and no earned runs while striking out four.
- Eight of the nine starters recorded at least one hit with Berges and Myott having two apiece. Â Myott also had a game high four runs batted in.
Inside the Tournament
- Berges set tournament records for hits (12) and runs (10), going 12-for-17 with three doubles, a homer, and five walks. He also finished one double (5) shy of the record.
- Goff tied the tournament record with 11 RBIs.
- Keatts in 11 innings pitched, gave up just four hits, 1 run which was unearned, while striking out five.
- The Seahawks outscored the opposition 57-19 in four games, scoring at least 13 runs in each contest.
- The Seahawks outhit teams 59-36 during the stretch of four games.
- Keiser was the lone undefeated team in tournament going 4-0 on the weekend
All-Tournament Team
- Keatts, Myott, Berges, Goff were amongst the ten players named.
Record
The Seahawks improved to 37-20 overall and are three wins shy of matching the school record for wins which they set last season. Keiser is also unbeaten in neutral site contests moving to 12-0.
