Baseball Advances to Regional Championship Game With 20-7 Win

The Keiser University baseball team advanced to the Regional Championship with a 20-7 victory over Central Baptist this evening. The Seahawks will now face host Auburn Montgomery this evening and must beat them twice in order to advance to the World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
 
  • Central Baptist struck with two runs in the first before Keiser answered with three in the bottom half.
  • Two hit by pitches and a single loaded the bases with nobody out, leading to a Tyler Goff sacrifice fly to left cutting the deficit to 2-1. Casey Mullennix then put Keiser ahead 3-2 with a two run double to left center.
  • The Seahawks again loaded the bases in the second with nobody out when an Andrew Danner fielder's choice upped the margin to 4-2. An RBI groundout to second by Gabby Mundo made it 5-2 and a single to right by Goff pushed the advantage to 6-2.
  • In the third, Keiser loaded the bases with no outs and scored seven runs highlighted by RBI singles from Danner, Keivan Berges, and Goff. After retiring two batters, Daniel Arroyo drilled an RBI double down the left field line to lead 13-2.
  • Mullennix and Arroyo both had RBI singles in the fifth pushing the advantage to 15-2 but the Mustangs got two runs back in the sixth making it 15-4.
  • Berges then drilled a three run homer to center in the sixth making it 18-4. Central Baptist pushed two runs across in the eighth but a solo homer in the bottom half by Berges made it 19-6 and a pinch hit RBI single by Brad Myott extended the margin to 20-6. Central Baptist plated the final run in the ninth falling in the game 20-7.
  • Damian Boyum picked up the win going four innings in relief. Doug Wright grabbed the three inning save.
  • Berges, Goff, and Arroyo had three hits apiece. Berges had five runs batted in while Goff had four runs batted in.
