The Keiser University softball team dropped a pair of games to Ave Maria on Friday afternoon in a Sun Conference doubleheader. The Seahawks moved to 12-17 overall and 0-3 in Sun Conference competition.
Game 2: The Gyrenes defeated the Seahawks 5-1.
- Ave Maria struck with a run in the first, three in the second, and one in the fifth for a 5-0 advantage.
- The Seahawks got on the board in the fifth on a throwing error by the shortstop allowing Heather Shapiro to come across who had doubled making it 5-1.
- A Cassidy Miller single through the left side followed and Meagan Flores walked to load the bases but Keiser could not get a runner across.
- Riley Caylor suffered the loss despite throwing a complete game with four strikeouts.
- Shapiro had a game high three hits while Darlah Cypress had two hits.
Game 1: Ave Maria defeated Keiser 9-0 in five innings.
- The Gyrenes scored five runs in the first, two in the second, and two in the fourth to win 9-0.
- Nicole Granitto threw 3.2 innings in relief with two strikeouts.
The Seahawks return to action tomorrow afternoon in a doubleheader against Webber International. Game 1 is set for 11:00 and game two will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion.Â
