The Keiser University softball team split with Webber International on Saturday afternoon in a Sun Conference doubleheader. The Seahawks moved to 13-18 overall and 1-4 in conference games.
Game 1: Webber defeated Keiser 3-0.
- Avery Miller led off the third with a double to left, Aquaria Baines was hit by a pitch, and a Shanah Thomas bunt loaded the bases with no outs. However, the Seahawks were unable to convert keeping the game scoreless.Â
- The Warriors then plated an unearned run in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one unearned in the sixth to win 3-0.
- S. Thomas led the way with a game high two hits.
- Riley Caylor threw a complete game only allowing five hits and just one earned run. She also struck out a pair.
Game 2: The Seahawks took down the Warriors 2-1.
- In a pitcher's duel, Webber struck first with a run in the fifth before the Seahawks tied it at 1-1 in the sixth on an RBI single to center by Meagan Flores.
- Neither team would produce a run in the next two innings sending the game into extra innings. After Webber went down in the order the Seahawks won the game in the bottom half of the eighth.
- Heather Shapiro was placed on second, Cassidy Miller walked, and an error on the shortstop loaded the bases with one out. Pinch hitter Tara Coletti then drilled a 2-0 pitch over the left fielders head to win the game 2-1.
- Tyler Thomas threw a complete game four hitter, while striking out four.
The Seahawks return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to St. Thomas to complete their game that was called due to lightning. The first pitch is set for 4:00 p.m with Keiser leading 3-0 in the fourth.
