#9 Women's Tennis Defeats Aquinas 7-2

The #9 ranked Seahawks women's tennis team ran away with a win on Sunday afternoon against RV Aquinas College in Orlando, Florida.

The day got off to a hot start in doubles as Samantha Guy and Liva Toth won going away at #3 doubles 8-2 to give Keiser the first point of the day.  Then Ana Pinto and Laura Ortega took their match at #2 doubles 8-2 to push the lead to 2-0.

Aquinas got on the board when Teodora Stanciu and Lola Garcia fell 8-5 at #1 doubles, but Keiser led 2-1 heading into singles.

Toth and Garcia both won at #6 and #5 singles by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0 extending the lead to 4-1. Guy put things out of reach with her 6-2, 6-1 win at #3 singles and clinched the match for the ladies as they would lead 5-1.

Stanciu would have a strong day at #4 singles winning her match 6-1, 6-0 upping the advantage to 6-1. The Saints got its only other point on the day when Ortega fell 6-2, 6-1 at #1 singles which cut the deficit to 6-2. However, Pinto put a stamp on the day with her 6-4, 6-4 win, sealing the match for the ladies at 7-2.

Head Coach Daniel Finn said, "We honestly didn't have our best stuff today, but these are the days that matter the most. Anyone can find a way to win when they are playing their best. What's really great is when you don't play your best and still find a way to get the job done. The ladies did do a good job of persevering today and getting the W."

Keiser makes their home debut tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 against Cardinal Stritch.
