The #7 ranked Seahawks men's tennis team swept through #24 Marian University on Friday afternoon. Keiser started the day up 2–0 because of defaults at #3 doubles and #6 singles.
Once doubles started the Seahawks got on the board quick as
Martin Martins and
Luis Sanchez tallied an 8–2 victory at #2.
Rafael Lenz and
Arthur Bonnaud rolled in the top spot 8–4 to complete the double sweep, giving Keiser a 4-0 lead.
Once singles play started Martins, "the #38 ranked player in nation" wasted no time at #5 clinching the match for the Seahawks with a 6–0, 6–0 win. He would be quickly followed by Bonnaud with a 6–1, 6–0 victory at #4.
Nicholas Guerschanik took his match 7–5, 6–0 going away at Number one singles, and shortly after that the #24 player Lenz dispatched of his opponent 6–3, 6–4.
Luis Sanchez finished the day with a 6–3, 7–5 win to seal the 9–0 sweep.
"The boys did a great job today," said Head Coach
Daniel Finn. "I'm really proud of the amount of energy we brought into this match early on and continued as the match progress. We have a lot of respect for Marian and knew they would come out playing strong doubles. With that said we came out and had one of the better doubles performances this year. The boys continue to improve and I'm excited to really see where this season goes."
