The #8 ranked women's tennis team won 5-0 over Union College on Tuesday night for their first win of the year.
The Seahawks started the match already up 2-0 as Union was forced to default #3 doubles and #6 singles due to a missing player. When doubles got started, Keiser wasted no time getting on the board as
Samantha Guy and
Livia Toth rolled to an 8-1 win at #1 doubles extending their lead to 3-0. #13 nationally ranked
Teodora Stanciu and
Lola Garcia also made quick work of their competition as they won 8-1 upping the advantage to 4-0.
Guy clinched the match with her 6-1, 6-1 victory at #2 singles and clinched 5th point for the 5-0 win. Due to Court availability and another match to be played the women's match was ended.
Laura Ortega was leading at #1 singles 6-1, 3-1 when her match would be stopped. The remaining matches wouldn't be played due to the match already being clinched.
Head Coach
Daniel Finn said, "The ladies did a good job tonight of staying focused and business like after such a rough night last night. It always feels good to get back on the right side of the win column. We have a tough task on Thursday so we will try to rest up and prepare for that."
The Seahawks return to action Thursday as they face #3 nationally ranked Lindsey Wilson in a battle of top 10 teams.
