The #11 ranked men's tennis team defeated RV Middle Georgia State University 7-2 in their first road match of the year.

The match would be close early on as Middle Georgia used strong doubles to hang with the Seahawks before heading into singles play. #1 and #3 doubles had to go to tiebreakers to be decided, while the #2 pair of Nicolas Guerschanik and Shaquille Taylor won their match 8-5 for the first point of the day.

Rafael Lenz and Arthur Bonnaud went the entire match without a break of serve but ultimately fell 9-8 (7-2),leveling the match at 1-1. Then Ignacio Osse and Luis Sanchez fought back with Middle Georgia serving for the match, pulling out a 9-8 (7-4) win, giving Keiser the 2-1 advantage going into singles.

Lenz upped the match in the Seahawks favor to 3-1 after his 6-1, 6-1 win at #3 singles. The Knights struck back winning #1 singles 6-3, 6-3 getting to within 3-2. However, Keiser answered winning the next four matches for their first win of the year.

From there Taylor and Martins both rolled in straight sets at #5 & #6. Taylor won 6-1, 7-5, while Martins won 6-2, 7-6(4) to give the Seahawks the 7-2 win on the day.

Head Coach Daniel Finn said "I'm definitely proud of how the boys fought today. We certainly didn't play our best all the way through but I thought we did a great job of keeping our composure in big moments and played the big points well. Middle Georgia is definitely way better than there ranking suggests. With that said it's a good win for us to get early in the year in a very hostile environment"

The boys return to action tomorrow at 8pm when they take on RV Union College.
