No. 3 Women's Soccer Falls Short against No. 14 Reinhardt

No. 3 Keiser fell to No. 14 ranked Reinhardt in the second round of the 2016 NAIA Women's National Championship by the final score of 3-2. Filippa Millqvist tallied both goals for the Seahawks.
 
Turning Point
The turning point in today's contest came in the 54th minute of play when Katie Goodrich's strike evened the contest at 2-2. Goodrich's goal put the momentum in favor of the Eagles as Reinhardt rode the Goodrich tally to the eventual game-winner in the 82nd minute of play by Adrien Merrilles.
 
How it Happened
  • Keiser claimed the 2-1 lead heading into the intermission behind two strikes from freshman midfielder Filippa Millqvist.
  • The Seahawks outshot Reinhardt, 11-1, in the opening frame to aid in the one-goal advantage.
  • Millqvist netted her first goal in the 22nd minute of play to give the Seahawks a brief 1-0 advantage.
  • Keiser held the lead for 41 seconds as the score was knotted at one apiece following an own goal by the Seahawks.
  • Keiser rebounded with the go-ahead strike in the 29th minute of play as Millqvist found the back of the net for the second time.
  • The Eagles evened the contest once again, this time in the second half, as Katie Goodrich buried the equalizer in the 54th minute of play.
  • Johanna Engberg had a good look at the goal in the 73rd minute when her shot inside the 18-yard box was saved by the fingertips of Nina Haeberlin.
  • Adrien Merrilles of Reinhardt had a chance slip by in the 81st minute when she sent a ball high above the goal.
  • Merrilles then capitalized on her next opportunity in the 82nd minute, giving the Eagles the 3-2 advantage.
 
Game Notes
  • Today's contest marked the second time the Seahawks and Eagles squared off this season, with the first contest going in favor of Keiser, 3-2.
  • Keiser and Reinhardt also met in the 2015 NAIA Women's National Tournament where the Seahawks came out victorious, 3-2.
