The Keiser University women's tennis squad capped off fall competition with a pair of singles wins and one doubles victory at the Embry-Riddle Clay Court Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Julianna Heino earned her first victory of the tournament in the Blue Singles draw, defeating Marie Debruyn of Rollins College in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Teammate
Juliana Goncalves also notched her first win in the White Singles draw by defeating Teresa Keiser of Rollins College in three sets. Goncalves dropped the first set, 2-6, but rebounded in a strong manner by sweeping Keiser in the second set. Goncalves buried the Rollins opponent in the final set, 1-0 (8).
The Seahawks split the two doubles matches as
Megane Bianco and Heino fell to NCAA Division I opponent Riepe/Bujan of Georgia Southern, 8-5. The doubles tandem of Goncalves and
Teodora Stanciu defeated Bock and Carter of Embry-Riddle, 8-3.
"All things considered, the girls did a good job competing this weekend," commented head coach
Daniel Finn. "Having to battle injuries and sickness is never easy. We're battling through to the end and that says a lot about the girls and it gives us a good direction moving forward as we head into the spring."
