Men's Tennis Caps of Clay Court Classic with Finals Wins

Box Score The Keiser Men's Tennis squad capped off the Embry-Riddle Clay Court Classic with a few championships under their belt. Arthur Bonnaud and Caspar Schuetze highlighted singles play, winning the finals of their respective brackets, while Bonnaud and Nicolas Guerschanik won the Blue Doubles draw. The Seahawks finished 5-3 in singles action, while also finishing 5-3 in doubles play.
 
Julian Turosienski defeated Nico Dreer of Barry for fifth place in the Gold Singles draw to begin competition for the day by the final score of 6-1, 6-0. Romai Ugarte also picked up his first win of the tournament, defeating Victor Ravier of Barry, 6-4, 6-1. Meanwhile in the Blue Singles draw, Sebastian Penaloza picked up the lone Keiser win of the bracket, defeating Carlos Becke of Embry-Riddle, 6-0, 6-0.
 
The final two singles wins came at the hands of Bonnaud and Schuetze. Bonnaud stepped up to defeat Louis Gilbert of ASA in the White Singles championship, 6-2, 6-7, 1-0. Schuetze capped off the Cessna singles bracket by upending Lucas Kogachi of Barry, 6-1, 6-3 to win the Cessna Finals.
 
Keiser finished 4-0 in the Blue Doubles draw as Bonnaud and Guerschanik teamed up to win the finals of the Blue Bracket, while Oliva and Raymond finished 2-0 today on the back end of the draw. Bonnaud and Guerschanik began by defeating Matteoli and Gutierez of Barry, 9-7. The Keiser doubles tandem then dismantled Arrien/Heil of Flagler, 8-2. On the back end of the draw, Oliva/Raymond defeated Verberne/Verberne (8-6) and also defeated Koeng/Guibert of ASA, 8-2. The final doubles win came from the White Doubles draw in which Penaloza and Schuetze upended Becke/Chetty of Embry-Riddle, 8-4.
 
"All things considered it wasn't a bad tournament for the boys," stated head coach Daniel Finn. "We definitely got punched in the mouth a few times but I think all in all we responded well. It was good to see the guys get tested to get some very strong competition and see how they would respond. We still have some work to do before the spring but the ceiling is definitely high for this team moving forward."
