The Seahawks had a strong showing against a pair of NCAA Division II schools on Friday in Lakeland, Florida. The men and women swam against Florida Southern who finished third last year at nationals and Florida Tech who was top 15 at nationals. The men concluded the day by nearly defeating Florida Teach but fell 249-233 despite leading by six points going into the last two races.

Highlights

• Varvara Klyueva had the lone first place finish on the day coming in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.79.
• The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team finished as the runner-up to Florida Technology by two seconds.
• Nicholas Oh came in second during the 100 yard backstroke (52.69) and 200 yard backstroke (1:55.15).
• In the 500 yard freestyle, Wyatt Engler finished second clocking a time of 4:49.52.
• Lukas Macek finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.54) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:13.11).
• Savannah Bowser had a strong showing the 1000 yard freestyle clocking a time of 11:18.99 to finish third.

"I'm really proud of how the team continues to prove their resilience. We had a very rough first half of the meet, came back to actually take the lead against Florida Tech before the 200 IM and last relay. Those are two of the best Division II teams in the country, and to be that close at the end really proves the quality of our team this year. We still need to clean up the little things, and will work to get better in a week and half for Tampa."
