The Keiser University men's soccer team shutout Ave Maria 5-0 in a Saturday afternoon Sun Conference game. The Seahawks moved to 6-3 overall and remain perfect in conference play at 4-0.
Turning Point
A converted penalty kick by
Reece Weldon in the 34th minute put the Seahawks up 1-0 heading into the break and went on to win by the final score of 5-0. Weldon continues to lead the team in goals with 10 and has 9 assists for 29 points.
How it Happened
- The lone goal of the first half came off the foot of Weldon on a penalty kick despite both teams having six shots each.
- The Seahawks started the new half quickly, when Alex Babiolakis scored two minutes in on a header off a free kick by Weldon making it 2-0.
- In the 69th minute, Jesus Castellon played a through ball to Weldon just inside the box and ripped a shot to the near post pushing the advantage to 3-0.
- Weldon then earned the hat trick in the 78th minute converting on his second penalty kick of the game making it 4-0.
- Ahmet Brown capped the scoring in the 87th minute when he beat the keeper to the far post off a pass from Callum Sinclair winning 5-0.
